HSV Audubon's "Planting & Gardening for Birds"

Hot Springs Village attracts so many great people because of its welcoming amenities and environment, and the same idea applies to birds! If you want different species to frequent your backyard, you have to offer them their preferred habitat. You can learn about the correct planting and gardening techniques to attract birds of all feathers to your yard at HSV's Audubon's upcoming presentation, "Planting & Gardening for Birds" with Janet Carson.

Recently, we wrote a post about HSV Audubon's highly-anticipated 2018 Bird I.D. Workshop, which starts March 6th. If you haven't signed up yet, do so ASAP! In the meantime, "Planting and Gardening for Birds" is a FREE event to scratch your bird fix! Happening at 10 a.m. on February 9th in the Coronado Community Center auditorium, the presentation will teach you valuable information about specific plants and gardening/landscaping tips to attract birds.

Believe us, Janet knows what she's talking about! She earned her B.S. in Urban Horticulture and Landscape Design and her M.S. in General Agriculture with a minor in Horticulture from the University of Arkansas. Since 1992, she has been the Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist and statewide Master Gardner Coordinator with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture System Cooperative Extension Service. In her role with the University, Janet travels all across Arkansas giving presentations about the science of horticulture, while also writing a popular weekly gardening column in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, taping weekly television spots at Garvan Woodland Gardens, and writing a monthly feature story in Arkansas Living Magazine and Arkansas Gardener Magazine. On top of all that, she has even found the time to pen two books, “In the Garden” and “Field to Feast”!
