The Ouachita Speaker Series will be returning for its spring 2018 incarnation starting tomorrow, March 21st! The OSS prides itself on bringing interesting and engaging speakers on a variety of topics right here to Hot Springs Village. For the spring series, there are three great presentations scheduled over the next three months, including tomorrow's "Positive Solutions to Problems", April's "Solving Forensic Mysteries", and May's "Looking for Ghosts, Aliens and Bigfoot". Keep reading to learn about the speakers and how you can attend one, two, or all three of the events!

The first spring speaker will be Arvind Singhal, who is a Professor of Communications at the University of Texas, El Paso. Mr. Singhal will be giving his presentation, "Positive Solutions to Problems", tomorrow, March 21st, at 7 p.m. at the Woodlands Auditorium. His talk centers on “positive deviance”, the idea that you can solve social problems by locating people or organizations who have found ways to avoid the problems. Mr. Singhal's outlook draws deeply from his experiences as a young boy in India, when he had a lengthy correspondence with Mother Teresa.

The next talk in the series will be held on April 11th by Dr. Thomas Holland, a forensic anthropologist and Scientific Director at the United States Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii. Dr. Holland uses a variety of methods to identify the remains of United States soldiers recovered from Vietnam, Korea, and other sites around the world. Dr. Holland is also a published novelist, who uses his professional knowledge to write mysterious and thrilling stories about his work.

Finally, on May 16th, those looking for something a little bit more eccentric can enjoy "Looking for Ghosts, Aliens and Bigfoot" by Christopher Bader, Professor of Sociology and Business at Chapman University. Professor Bader will be discussing his research into into paranormal beliefs and experiences.

All three of these OSS event will be held at 7 p.m. on their respective date at Woodlands Auditorium. General admission is $12 for each event, or you can purchase tickets to all three as a bundle for $30. Tickets can be purchased online here.
