Take Control of Your Health

Submitted by on

Nothing influences your quality of life more forcefully and directly than your health. For those suffering from a medical issue, it might seem like there's no hope for improving your situation. Luckily, Hot Springs Village has three great opportunities coming up in the near future to learn about ways to deal with knee pain/replacement, hearing loss, and diabetes. Knowledge is power, so take back control of your health!

Knee Pain/Total Knee Replacement Workshop

The first event is aimed toward those who have severe knee pain and are considering having knee replacement surgery. Hosted by Physical Therapist Lee Sowerbutts of Village Golf & Physical Therapy Center, this FREE workshop will be filled with useful information about how to get you back on your feet doing the things you love! The class is limited to just 30 people, so be sure to register quickly by calling 501-984-2453 or by clicking here. The workshop will be held on February 4 at 1 p.m. at the Coronado Fitness Center.

Cochlear Americas- Implantable Hearing Solutions

The next health information opportunity is coming up on February 9 also at the Coronado Community Center. At this free event, attendees will learn about hearing loss, hearing implant solutions, and who may benefit from this technology. Meet the staff as well as people who have already benefitted from this technology, which is covered by most insurance plans. The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. and coffee and pastries will be provided. Please RSVP at bpellegra@cochlear.com or leave voicemail on 901-484-1613.

Diabetes Empowerment at Coronado Center

Finally, exercise your calendar by marking March 6 at 9 a.m. and every Monday after for 6 weeks! Why? During that time, you can attend the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP), a workshop that will allow you to conquer your diabetes! Over the course of this fun and interactive program, you will build skills and find motivation that you might not think possible. The 2-hour classes will be held through April 10 at the Coronado Community Center. Topics covered are: How Does Diabetes Affect Your Body, Risk Factors, What Should a Person With Diabetes Do to Take Care of Their Health, How to Check Your Blood Sugar, Healthy Nutrition, and more! This course is hosted by the Coronado Community Center in partnership with the Oaklawn Center on Aging, a program of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. While the program is free to all participants, a ticket is required for entry. Claim your ticket here.
