Submitted by on

The start of summer is one of the best times of the year, so what better way to kick it off than with a party? Of course, one day isn't enough time to celebrate properly, and even two seems to be cutting it close! Luckily, everyone will have plenty of time to welcome the new season during the three-day Moonshine Festival, happening over Memorial Day weekend right here in Hot Springs Village!

You read that right: the Moonshine Festival will be held over the course of three amazing days! Each day will be marked by a different slate of great events for everyone to enjoy! The fun gets started on Friday, May 25, continues on Saturday, May 26, and draws to a close on Sunday, May 27.

Friday's Firewater Feast

Friday's featured event will be the Firewater Feast, which starts at 7:30 p.m. This evening extravaganza aims to please with an incredible variety of food and drink for you to savor! Guests will enjoy a meal of mixed greens salad topped with a watermelon & raspberry infused moonshine vinaigrette, grilled beef tenderloin with apple fig moonshine compote, smoked cheddar cheese Yukon gold mashed potatoes, and sweet corn succotash. Every amazing meal needs to be followed by an amazing dessert, and this is no exception! Caramel and cinnamon moonshine macerated strawberry shortcake will be served after dinner.

Of course, it wouldn't be a "Firewater Feast" without something to drink! Your ticket includes moonshine tastings and cocktails, as well as a complimentary commemorative cup and live music, all during sunset on beautiful Balboa Beach. Tickets are $75 each plus tax.

Saturday's Bootlegger 5K and Half Pint Run

The following day, burn off some of those feast-related calories with the Bootlegger 5K and Half Pint Run! Registration for the 5K is $20 and registration for the Half Pint is $15. Each includes a commemorative T-shirt and prizes will be awarded to the winners. After the run, stick around for the Bootleg Bash, featuring a jug band and bonfire beginning at 8 p.m. and a lighted boat parade by the Balboa Yacht Club at 9 p.m.

Sunday's Full Moon Paddle

Wrap up the Moonshine Festival with the Full Moon Paddle! Registration is $20 per person when you bring your own equipment and includes a commemorative T-shirt and Moonlight Munchies. A limited number of rental kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes will be available to rent for $10, $10, and $20, respectively.
