PIckleball is a unique sport that combines elements of a bunch of racket/paddle sports. It can be played as a single 2 player game or with 4 players. A small ball similar to a wiffle ball is hit over a net that is like a tennis net. The paddles that are used to hit the ball are akin to table tennis paddles.

Pickleball was invented in Bainbridge Island, Washington back in 1965 as a family game to combat the boredom of summer. Eventually, pickleball became the state sport of Washington. The popularity of pickleball has spread at community centers, public and private venues as well as YMCA programs and retirement communities. Hot Springs Village is no stranger to pickleball with having 14 of their own courts at the Desoto facility. The courts were recently renovated in August of 2021. Hot Springs Village pickleball courts are also host to not only open play but tournament and organized leagues. The popularity of pickleball has led to world wide recognition of the sport and several championship tournaments including the U.S. Pickleball National Championship, the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships and Major League Pickleball.
