Books, Performances, and Festivals

What do books, performances, and festivals have in common? They're all happening soon in Hot Springs Village! Snuggle up with a good read, show off your skills with a microphone, and celebrate the changing seasons at these great events.

If you would like to bring more literature into your life, the Garland County Library has you covered. On Tuesday, September 27, representatives from the library will be at the Coronado Community Center to help residents get their own Garland County Library card. In addition, library personnel will be happy to assist anyone with an electronic device in setting up their own e-book account with the library! Stop by room 6 of the center between 1 and 3 p.m. for this event.

Looking for a chance to show everyone your incredible singing voice (or magic tricks, poems, etc)? Monday, October 10, marks the first ever HSV Open Mic Night! Head over to the Coronado Community Center at 7 p.m. to watch and/or participate in this wonderful event. Each performer will be given 10 minutes to wow the audience on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to reserve a spot ahead of time for yourself or a group, email hsvopenmic@gmail.com in advance of the show. A cash bar will be available for the gathering, which is planned to happen quarterly with sufficient turnout.

Speaking of first time events, there's at least one more happening this October! The Village Fall Fest will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 at Grove Park and the Ponce de Leon Center. The Fest will be packed with great sources of entertainment, including live shows by Posey Hill, Mark Currey, Kenny & Courtney, Chris Hunter, and Roy Rivers. In addition, the Fest will feature a wide variety of amusements, such as inflatables, hayrides, egg spoon races, Baggo, face painting, pumpkin decorating, a photo booth, a fortune teller, and more! Classic festival food like funnel cakes and corn dogs will be available for purchase throughout the day.
