July is nearly here, and you know what that means: it's almost time for the annual Stars & Stripes Festival! This year's event will run from Friday, July 1st through Monday, July 4th. Keep reading to see the full list of events as well as brief descriptions for many of them!
Friday, July 1st
8:00 a.m.: Troon Challenge – Granada Golf Course. Two-person modified best ball (shamble). Entry fee now only $60 per team! Register online at Troonchallenge.com.
9:00 a.m.: Paddle & Pride Race – The Waypoint at DeSoto Marina. 1.7 mile race in two classes: kayak and stand up paddle board. Limited rentals will be available for $10 each. Register on site day of event. FREE!
5:30 p.m.: Red, White, & Blues – Balboa Pavilion. Rusty Wright Band plays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets $20 plus tax in advance. $25 at the door if available. Tickets available online at HSVTicketSales.com.
Saturday, July 2nd
6:00 a.m.: HSV Anglers Fishing Tournament – Lake Balboa. $20 per two-person team. Register by email to hsvangler@hsvanglers.com.
7:00 a.m.: 3-on-3 Supreme "Court" Basketball Tourney – DeSoto Family Recreation Area. $5.00 per team with varying age divisions. Register in person at the Coronado Fitness Center or on-site the day of the event.
11:00 a.m.: Star Spangled Beach Bash – Balboa Beach. Wrist Bands will be sold for games. Rock climbing, trampoline jumper, water slide, bounce house, stand up paddle board and kayak races, and more. FREE!
4:00 p.m.: Kid’s Fishing Derby – Cortez Pavilion. Guaranteed catching! FREE!
6:00 p.m.: Deck-laration of Fish Dependence Fish Fry – The Waypoint at DeSoto Marina. Fire & Brimstone playing a special Rock Porch. Tickets $15.00 plus tax in advance at www.hsvticketsales.com. $20 at the door if available.
Sunday, July 3rd
1:00 p.m.: Lady LiberTEA – Coronado Center. $15 plus tax per adult, $10 plus tax per child. Includes a light brunch, tea, a Shirley Temple, and dessert. Tickets available online at HSVTicketSales.com.
5:30 p.m.: "Sundae" 5K Run/Walk” – Balboa Spillway Trail & Balboa Pavilion. 5K run or a 1-mile fun run/walk. Prizes awarded in various age categories. Followed by an Ice Cream Social at Balboa Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. The walk/run is free, $5.00 for ice cream bar.
7:00 p.m.: “Let Freedom Ring” Village Big Band Concert – Balboa Pavilion. FREE!
9:00 p.m.: Sand-sational Fun Times Movie & Bonfire – Balboa Beach. Watch "National Treasure" and roast marshmallows over the bonfire! FREE!
Monday, July 4th
9:00 a.m.: Yankee Doodle Dayz – DeSoto Family Recreation Area. Mini golf tournament with prizes, arts and crafts, sand art, patriotic tattoos, a magician, and more! FREE!
9:00 a.m.: Pickleball Instruction – DeSoto Family Recreation Area. Ages 12+. Must wear tennis shoes to play. No equipment necessary. FREE!
Dark: Stars & Stripes Fireworks Show – Balboa Beach. FREE!
